DVLA (Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency) is the organization of the UK government who is responsible for maintaining a database of drivers and database of vehicles. It is an agency that issues driving licenses, organizes collection on vehicle excise duty and sells private number plates. Previously, DVLA was known as DVLC (Driver and Vehicle Licensing Center). DLVA provides a facility to buy private number plates and private vehicle registrations as per buyer’s choice.

Selection of DVLA number plates can be done via DVLA Auctions.

What are DVLA Auctions?

A DVLA auction offers another way to buy private vehicle registrations. DVLA holds six number plate auctions each year. These auctions are held at easy to reach locations throughout UK. These can include impressive stately homes and plush conference centers. The information about the locations and dates regarding DVLA auctions can be found from DVLA auction website. These auctions usually run over three days. All the number plates that are available to buy are distributed evenly with the most and least expensive registrations like more expensive number plates will often come up between cheaper plates.

DVLA auctions provide various options for auction like-

  • Choosing a registration to buy at auction:

Vehicle registrations available to buy at DVLA auctions often have special significance to a greater number of people. These auctions provide the buyers with the best matching and meaningful number plates.

  • Bidding at DVLA auction:

The bidder has to register himself a day before the auction starts. Bidder can register himself on the day of auction but it can slow down the entrance of bidder on the venue day. The application form need to be filled in the form of electronic catalogue and all the necessary and required details are need to be filled and then e-mail or post the application form to the DVLA auctioneers.

There are different bidding methods available:

  • In Person Auction Bidding:

In this, the bidder is the part of the auction and can respond on-the-spot at bidding venue itself.

  • Telephone Auction Bidding:

In this, the auctioneer calls the bidder (if he is interested) and takes his bid just before the bidding starts.

  • Internet Auction Bidding:

In this, there is a need to download special software before taking part in internet auction bidding. This type of bidding is a live bidding operated by DLVA itself.

  • Cost of buying at DVLA auction:

The most popular and impressive registrations on which maximum members may be bidding are available at DVLA auctions private registrations. The competition is tough during bidding at an auction, so the final price of the registration may be very high than you imagined.

  • Using a trusted auction bidding service:

If a bidder doesn’t want to attend auction or if he is unable to attend the auction or wants to bid but doesn’t want to hassle with the auctions, then he may take advantage of a trusted auction bidding service. This auction bidding service removes all stress and hassle of the bidder, resulting the bidder can rest assured that his wishes will be carried out irrespective of the budget allotted. The auction members and national numbers maintain close contact with each other so as to get informed of the auction’s progress going on.

The driving test is straightforward. It is designed to see if you can drive safely, know the Highway Code and can demonstrate this through your driving. Test routes are designed to be as uniform as possible and include a range of typical road and traffic conditions. You will be given directions and also be allowed to drive independently for 10 minutes by the Driving Examiner and asked to carry out set exercises; this will be one reverse manoeuvre, of the four below:

  • Turn in the Road

  • Reverse around a corner

  • Reverse Parallel or Bay Reverse Park

and maybe an emergency stop. The driving test lasts approximately 38 / 40 minutes

We have some fantastic introduction driving lesson offers including discounts for students block bookings.
